Color at the Teen Choice Awards

Another favorite shoe theme at the Teen Choice Awards was super bright color shoes that helped pop an outfit. We have the always stylish Cameron Diaz in bright blue Pierre Hardy heels, Leighton Meester in sky-high red Brian Atwood ankle strap platforms, and Alexis Bledel in Loeffler Randall two toned sandals. Take a lesson from these girls and dare to be a little more colorful with your feet.

Booties at the Teen Choice Awards

The Teen Choice Awards are a celebration of Tinseltown’s youngest elite. With the youngsters come a host of style risks, funky fashion choices and offbeat outfit combinations. There is not much else that exudes a youthful rock and roll look that mini skirts and teensy dresses paired with little ankle booties. At the Teen Choice Awards we see the ankle boot look from Emma Roberts in Brian Atwood (my favorite), Twilight star Kristen Stewart in a Jerome C. Rousseau cutout peep-toe pair and Leah Pipes in Prada leather boots. Warning to all: This is a look that should be left strictly to those kids with killer legs.

Celebs Go Back to Black at the ESPY Awards

Summer is here in full force and the awards and premieres have begun to slow down a little bit as Hollywood gets ready for their summer break we have one of the last major awards shows of the 2009 season- the ESPY’S (The Oscar’s of the sporting world). Sometimes I think athletes are so used to wearing their sport specific gear that they just don’t do so well in street clothes and to add to that we aren’t used to it. (Who immediately pictures Venus Williams in an evening gown?) I wouldn’t consider this show the pinnacle of fabulous fashion but a few Hollywood favorites showed up to celebrate their athletic counterparts. Demi Moore was my highlight in her fiery Zac Posen dress and black Brian Atwood peep-toes, Jaime Pressly wore strappy Dior sandals and Olivia Wilde came in Sergio Rossi. The common denominator here? Back to Basic Black.

Beyonce’s Very Special Dior Shoes

As a supplement to my last post on the footwear of the BET awards, I wanted to focus briefly on Beyonce’s Dior t-strap shoes she wore with a remarkable Balmain dress. Typically I don’t find much inspiration in Beyonce’s fashion choices (And I don’t think she really does Balmain justice the way let’s say Emanuelle Alt the ever so stylish Fashion Director of Vogue Paris does) but I do think these shoes are pretty fantastic on their own. Is it overkill (as usual) for the outfit? Yes. Is it the shoes fault? No way. They are amazing. From frontal view they look like a sexy pair of purple sandals but then turn to the side and ta-da! you see a little skirt of colorful beading!

Best of the BET Awards

This year’s BET Awards was shadowed by the devastating news of Michael Jackson’s untimely passing. Appropriately, the organizers, hosts and attendees decided to make it an evening in tribute to the King of Pop and his amazing legacy. This was very much the case in many of the performers and guests’ apparel choices as well. Ciara wore a custom Michael Jackson inspired marching band jacket and fantastic buckle boots for her performance; Keri Hilson performed with glittering socks and slip on loafers as did the evening’s host Jamie Foxx. Others accented their outfits with Michael elements like a single glove and other sparkly and shiny things. While Keri and Ciara are my pick for best Michael inspire footwear, Zoe Saldana in Brian Atwood and Amerie in Alexander McQueen are my best non-Michael inspired pics. Check it out.

Cannes We Talk Shoes? (Part Two)

Cannes 2009 has officially wrapped but not before some of our favorite red carpet warriors made their appearances. Angelina Jolie attended the Inglorious Bastards premiere in a beautiful nude chiffon Atelier Versace gown with perfectly corresponding nude satin Versace peep toe pumps. Nude evening shoes with a strong shape have been a popular red carpet theme in the past few months and no one does nude better than Angie. She looked like a goddess as usual. At the Cannes AMFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala, Sharon Stone wore gorgeous a Dior Couture creation with a thigh high slit showing off her toned legs and a pair of sexy funky metallic Dior sandals. Star Trek darling Zoe Saldana made a bold statement wearing a very futuristic pair of chunky metallic Sergio Rossi sandals to the same event. Well that was fun while it lasted, see you next year in Cannes!

Cannes We Talk Shoes?

Cannes! It’s this time of the year! France, here we come. The best thing about Cannes in my opinion is that we see breakout movie stars, consistently eclectically chic starlets and the tried and true fashion heroes all make there way out to walk the red carpets and party all night long. If this film festival guarantees anything it’s that fashion will span the whole spectrum and its an all day every day parade of goodies from daytime press events for films, major announcements (The beaaauutiful Frida Pinto and Lost hottie Evangeline Lilly as the new faces of L’Oreal), film premieres and very high-end parties hosted by the likes of Chopard and Cartier. There’s much more to come but here is a little taste. Eva Herzigova in my beloved Giuseppe Zanotti, the always exciting Diane Kruger in Lanvin and socialite fashion muse Peaches Geldof in some daring red spiked heels. Enjoy and stay tuned….

Nudity at the Terminator Premiere

The Terminator movie premiere was as expected huge but what the girls were going to wear was a total toss up. Would they go glamorous in gowns? Would they show up futuristic and pay homage to the movie? Would they come in classic cocktail? Well kind of but not really. My two favorites Bryce Dallas Howard (What a gorgeous creamy skinned red head!) and fellow fair skinned beauty Rose McGowan showed up in outfits that were funky and fun! Both took risks a little left of what we see on a day to day basis in Hollywood but what did we really expect from these ladies? Bryce and Rose both wore nude Christian Louboutins- the former wearing a sky high peep-toe platform and the latter wearing a pair of lace up pair of killer heels. Enjoy the photos!

Rihanna, Jessica and Kate at the Model As Muse Gala!

So I know this is a little delayed but I thought I would mention it since the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala is one of the most major fashion events of the year. Tons and tons of A-List celebrities, your favorite musicians, supermodels, and fashion industry elite including Vogue’s notorious Anna Wintour. This years theme being “Model As Muse” we saw our favorite famous faces align with some our favorite designers and step out in their creations. Usually with major red carpets where the girls wear serious gowns, we don’t get to see too much of the shoes. Not the case at this years Costume Institute Gala! We some daring shoes that wonderfully complemented some fabulous, risk-taking outfits. Some favorites? Kate in gold custom YSL Tribute pumps, Rihanna in sexy sky high Dolce & Gabbana pumps and Jessica Biel in Christian Louboutin peep toes which offset her dress just perfectly!

Another Fabulous One for You! Meet Jerome C. Rousseau

Part of my day job as a fashion stylist involves finding cool little treats for my clients so I’m always obsessing over under the radar design talent who are creating really wonderful things from random corners of the world. I found about Jerome C. Rousseau a little while ago and have been dying to share him with ShoeTube followers. So here you go! Hurry and check out his part club kid, part lady, part glam rocker, part Victorian 2009 collections!

A little about this phenom, Jerome Chouinard-Rousseau: He’s a French-Canadian from Québec who has worked in London and Los Angeles for ten years. He started out as a footwear design student at Cordwainers College in London (Famous for alum like Jimmy Choo) and later went on to work with Matthew Willamson and Isabella Fiore. Today he masterminds his own beautiful line from Playa de Rey, a beach neighborhood in Los Angeles, and sells to high end retailers internationally including Harvey Nichols, Barneys and Net-a-porter.

Jerome C Rousseau

I’m obsessed with his cut-out booties (especially the gold ones seen here) and the color combos he uses in his designs. Celebrities like Cameron Diaz are already scooping them up, so you can count on seeing a lot more of this rising footwear star.
